It would now appear to be 2016! Happy New Year everybody!  Smiley

As usual, I'm starting the new year with a bunch of potential ideas for the year. As I've been rambling on about for the last few months, I'm going to finally get the Casanii ready for release early this year. The next couple of models for the force are with the casters and then there are just a couple more pieces to give a full starter force!

I'll be going to salute in April, so I expect I'll get carried away in the run up to that!

Alongside that I'll be doing some more dhogu and if I don't do another Grishak jenta soon then some of you might lynch me...

That certainly won't be everything though  Wink

Happy New Year! Thanks for the updates. It all sounds like great things are in the works, especially the dhogu! I really am looking forward to expanding my dhogu force. Also, I was thinking of possibly grabbing another dhogu starter and a few more yirnak riders. Is this what most people are doing to double their forces, or is this generally a much smaller scale game?

Happy New Year everyone.
Great news about the new models.

We had a twilight mini-tournament on New Year's Day evening as a family.
I had a 300 point Devanu force. Tom (my son) had 300 points of Delgon. My wife had an Empire force and my two daughters each had Kedashi and Dhogu.
We pulled initiative counters to see who was fighting who. We had two rounds. I sat out the first and Tom sat out the second.
My daughters won both their games. Unfortunately we ran out of time before a grand final.

All went smoothly. The new players picked up the rules quickly and said they enjoyed it.

I am looking forward to see what new models you've got in store for Twilight. also nice to hear folks are getting some good games in. I think I'm going to try to flesh out my Empire forces next.   Wink

Good to hear you got some games in Serin! You should try a big four player scavengers game at some point  Smiley
@ Dhogu - there's nothing at all wrong with increasing your force with another starter. I've always found the game to scale up well, although command structures become far more critical. One of the main things I'm looking to do with the dhogu is to make them a bit easier to produce! The multipart models are fun, but a bit awkward to deal with. All going well I should be able to revisit the starter force in the next couple of months and maybe add a couple of figures.

Yeah, things have been pretty quiet from everyone here lately. I got in another game this past week and luckily my Dhogu were victorious yet again, however, it was a very close game right up until the end. The Devanu were able to swarm on my Yirnak Riders, (I only have two right now) pretty early on in the game and without my heavy hitters from charging, the rest of the battle went back and forth. My Dhogu won in the end but it was a very close game and if I remember correctly, I think it came down to the last fight and if his stones would have beat mine, he would have won instead. All I had left was just a few lowly spearmen and a single skerrat.

We've gotten to the point where we both know now what we are doing, (at least I think we do lol) and know what models to get next to bolster our forces. I know several people who claim that the Dhogu are a relatively weaker force but I have to say, my Dhogu have done very well and it could just be that I've had good luck with them as I've only lost not even a handfull of games yet. However, I think we've only played 8-10 games in total and that all could change at any time. I think where the Dhogu are really lacking is in heroes. The warlord appears to be only about half as strong as most of the other heroes from the other factions and we also don't really have a commander like most of the other factions. I was debating on snatching up, Roban the Hunter and using him in my army, but I wasn't sure if I should hold out and see what is coming for the Dhogu or if using him was even allowed. I also have a hard time with my archers. Though there are only two of them from the starter set, I find that they are eventually left behind, as my Captain leads five spearmen and he can only lead six people in total and my warlord ends up being far out of command range after his second or third move and then my archers have to move individually.

I think if it weren't from my Yirnak Riders, I would be hard pressed to win a game and if I lose them in combat, I struggle to survive the remainder of the game and because of that, I rely very heavily upon them. In fact, I think I rely a little more on them than I even do my warlord, himself. That could be because there are two of them and the Devanu can swarm a single model more easily. Of course, that could just be my buddy, Matt's playstyle. He usually plays orcs or goblins in other games and since those are usually evil armies, he tends to play with a swarming tactic. Oddly enough, during one of the combats, my warlord had cast a really decent attack against his leader. He used an ability to force me to reroll ALL of my stones and again, I had a decent roll, however, slightly less. Then he had the audacity to have me flip over one of my attack stones and instinctively, I responded with, "Oh, that is just not even fair!" His reply to that was simply this, "I'm Devanu," and then he shrugged all smug-like. Filthy Devanu! I swear, what they are able to do would be considered cheating in any other game! It's things like that that really make each of the armies so very unique, playful and fun and I wouldn't change a thing...well...maybe to add more models!

All in all, I am quite happy with the game mechanics and I enjoy playing Twilight a lot. Perhaps, even more than some games that I have been playing for years. The rules are simple and the models are so unique and I find that when in combat, even the loss of a simple lowly spearman or skerrat weighs heavy on me and (for me at least) that is a rare thing to find in a game. Anyways, that's about all I have to say for now, sorry if I got a little long winded there. Happy gaming everyone!

Cheers for the feedback - always good to hear how games are going and get some opinions! It's great to hear you are still enjoying your games  Smiley
You should consider adding Dehran to your collection at some point - he is pretty much the dhogu version of roban  Smiley I do need to finally release the latest Traveller I've been working on as it has the updated rules for him and his dhogu bodyguards. Plus a scenario for the dhogu (admittedly vs the Engu, so possibly not much use to you!).
At some point I'll do rules for a yirnak mounted captain and an Archer (captain for your bows). In the meantime you will have to make do with a new shaman that's ready for release (he'll work well with skerrats and probably allow you to create smoke to hide your dhogu).

I'll have to check out Dehran for sure! I can't wait for the shaman! He sounds like he'll be pretty fun and useful to use. Any ideas when he'll be released? Also, I was looking in the Accessories and there are no Dhogu Combat Stones!!! What's what's up with the racism?!?! Poor dhogu, always the underdogs.

Indeed it is very quiet here at the moment.

I presume everyone is too busy painting and playing to post Wink

Interesting to read about Dhogu Warlord's games.

I am planning at some point soon to post some photos of my various warbands - some have grown rather large!

Looking forward to new Casanii and Dhogu shaman. Any other figures in the pipe-line?

Is it too early to talk about Salute? Embarrassed

Yes, but unfortunately it is not WoT stuff.  Sad

Currently at the top of my painting queue are Elves for Dragon Rampant and Pirates for Cutlass.
After they are done, it will be my Trader Caravan and possibly my Kedashi Swarm, if I can finally work out a colour scheme.  Smiley
(That is if my 7TV figures don't bump them down the list.)

On a more positive note, I have introduced two players to WoT and had four games this year.  Cool

Jup, same here sadly, although I want to paint a couple of WoT minis at least. But top of the list is a Raven Guard commision at the moment, including the big boss  Corax... so I'll have plenty to do in the next weeks...

But I hope to get a game or two again at the end of march Smiley

I haven't been very good with new releases so far this year as I've been getting very distracted with the Casanii! There are a few random new sculpts to share in the run-up to Salute though, just as soon as I get organised...
  • Unladen baruk
  • A completely new engineer
  • Elder trader (an additional metal figure that rides on top of the laden belan)
  • A new tiny little pet for a noble
  • A Nobleguard with crossbow (it was a bit of an experimental sculpt to see if it works...)
  • Plus the Trebarnii that I mentioned last year but never actually released (two warriors and a brute) and the single part Dhogu
Hopefully that lot might prompt some more painting once I've released them Smiley
I've also got a little kickstarter to run before salute...

Is the rumour that the Casanii regard Grishak Jenta as being a delicacy true ?

If so, will this remain the case should their availability increase ?
