Title: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Silent_Spectre on April 23, 2013, 11:51:53 am Hello All!
Having seen the Twilight game and miniatures over the last 3-4 Salute shows, I finally decided to take the plunge and give it a try! Love the look and 'feel' of the minis (very 'Froud'-like :)) and the novel game mechanics are more intriguing than a pure IGO/UGO game (I'm looking at you GW designers!!). Anyhoo, a bit about me... I got into mini gaming in the late 80s when I was about 9-10. However, I ended up more collecting minis than gaming when my friends went down the Fantasy gaming route (with WFB) while I was more interested in SciFi gaming. I left wargaming when I left school although I still had an interest (just little or no money to buy!). I had a hiatus of about 10 years - coming back to wargaming after I was diagnosed with having Depression (long story, but my doctor recommended I find a hobby that I could immerse myself in and not worry about other issues). I still found I couldn't afford much in the way of what I wanted so I started sculpting my own figures and now produce my own line of minis! I also still suffer with depression and find it hard to make friends :( (but it helps to admit that rather than just keep on repressing everything) I don't have a huge amount of free time for gaming, between looking after my 3yo daughter (and another on the way!) and sculpting, but I am aiming to rectify this over time... well maybe!! I enjoy games that are different, not 'cookie cutter' types and Twilight certainly seems to fit the bill... Now I just need to get other people in the local games clubs to play it too :) Other than wargaming I like reading (currently on book 7 I'm reading this year - and that's down on last year!), video games, films - all largely with a scifi slant. Thanks for reading Stuart Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Carcharoth on April 23, 2013, 01:41:20 pm Hi Stuart and welcome to the forum!
Looking forward to seeing how your starter set paints up :) I've also got a 3yo daughter with another in the way, so I know how rare free time is! Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Silent_Spectre on April 23, 2013, 06:27:58 pm I deliberately didn't mention my website as this isn't *my* forum for *my* minis... and I didn't want to step on anyone's toes :) I have, however, added my website info to my profile if you want to have a look.

welcome to the forum and the wonderful world of twilight! have you thought about what faction you want to play? Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Silent_Spectre on April 23, 2013, 07:39:56 pm Well, I've got the starter set so I'm going to see how those factions play to begin with. To be honest though, I like the look of all of the minis, unlike other games I own, so collecting them won't be difficult (bar finding the money to buy them!!).

you just end up picking up everything! I look forward to seeing your stuff all painted up :) Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Taelan on April 24, 2013, 09:56:06 am Welcome Spectre,
Looking forward to more painting and hobby about the forums - always fun to see folks interpretation of the World of Twilight :) Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Lost Egg on April 25, 2013, 02:27:01 pm Welcome to World of Twilight and the forum.
I look forward to seeing some painted minis! :D Title: Re: Finally delved into the World of Twilight Post by: Whitwort Stormbringer on April 26, 2013, 06:22:21 pm To be honest though, I like the look of all of the minis, unlike other games I own, so collecting them won't be difficult (bar finding the money to buy them!!). Same boat, for me! I picked up a bunch of Dhogu at Salute, so I've got 4 armies at about 250 points each - just enough to introduce the game to people, although I'm eager to expand on all of them. I guess I should get cracking on painting before I bite off more than I can chew from the collecting/building end of things... I have depression too (along with other great stuff lol) and got into painting and then sculpting as a way to distance myself from the fun and games of reality :-) I don't game so can't help too much with force choice but any of the range sculpted by that Mark Craggs chap are the best of course ;D Seriously though I think I would start collecting all the factions as there are great models in each and even new types in the works. Take it easy and have fun. |
