The World Of Twilight

Tammy from Tears of Envy has been playing with the culture logos for me, and it seems like a good time to share them with you. There's still some tweaking to be done, but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

The first logo is the empire - bold, shining and noble, but a little bit aged and tarnished. The symbols show the first emperor surrounded by his five advisors who went on to form the first five clans across the empire.
The second is the Delgon - crisp, neat and ordered. It depicts Enar rising over the mountains of Delgon.
Finally we have the Devanu. The three daggers of Arak Katain, scribed into a piece of wood taken from their old slaves.

I'm very happy with the Delgon and empire designs. The 'wings' are optional and won't always be used.
The Devanu design is still work in progress and will be tweaked a bit. Feel free to suggest any ideas you may have, but don't be upset if I don't take them all on board  ;)

I like them a lot.

However, I think the Devanu logo looks  bit too busy - a logo needs clear definition, which is lacking IMHO. The white marks break it up too much. They look like they are paint smeared on the wood, but they continue through the tooth design as well. Perhaps if the tooth design was "clean" but the white paint remained on the wood backing, as though painted before it was scribed?

Or I may be missing the point entirely... In which case I'll go back to painting all my uniformed, same-skinned, same coloured Enuk, empire knights now...  :P

I like 'em and the more I look at the devanu one the more I like it. My dislike are the wings. But that's just a personal thing. Its good to see twilight looking all shiny  :D

Looking very nice, I think the Devanu logo is a bit busy and looses some impact for it. The other two are great and the with without wings idea is good too.

The empire logo is great as is and would be good if you make up a significance for the long triangles too, tho losing them isn't the end of the world as, the other side of the coin, them with the "tail" triangle and "twin headed" top bit does make it look a little WH40K in silhouette if not in design

The Delgon logo needs to be just the square imo. It works brilliant as just that and leaves me with the impression of it almost being a clan stamp

The Devanu logo works as a shape but the colours are off putting. I'd lose the white and lose the "blood" and then make the slashes more of a contrast with the outer wood, so perhaps a darker bark and the slashes underneath being the much paler flesh of the wood?

Ta for the thoughts so far - generally inline with my own. I think cleaning the paint out of the slashes on the Devanu one would help to give more definition. That one is earliest in the design process, so more room for tweaking.

The parallels to 40k Empire had never remotely occurred to me...

The Delgon symbol is effectively a stamp. I'm sure that specific 'clans' within the Delgon have similar designs, but this one is the primary symbol. I've used it on the KalJoran and the KalGush so far.

Can I just ask what are the five major clans triangles?

I like them, looks good.  The Devanu needs a little something as others have said.  I think it's the circle?  How about just the 3 floating tear marks and drop the circle?

I like how you put the Empire symbol on the Fubarnii Knights of Relan.  I hadn't really paid attention to untill you showed the faction symbol.  

I like the Empire and Delgon logos but i think they are better without the wings each side. The Devanu one needs more work 

Yeah ditch the wings and theyre spot on. Remove the white paint from the Devanu oneat least from the red triangles. Think a old used shield thats been turned into a sign, totem etc. The 3 red triangles should be the most prominent.

Nice  :) Must say I quite like the Devanu one and the white paint doesn't bother me in the least.

I've played around with the last versions tammy sent me to remove the wings... They'll generally be treated more neatly, but thought I'd share the latest versions for some feedback.

The latest devanu one has been cleaned up to remove the white from the triangles, which I think helps a lot. I'm kinda happy with them all now.  :)

Indeed. I think they all look great. Its easy enough to see dirtier versions of the Devanu one cropping up all over the place, but as a starting point, I think the "Clean" version is definitely the way to go!

I'd still tidy the Devanu one up a little more so that the inner colour does not bleed out on to the surface at all (it still does at the top)

But otherwise a definite improvement

The Fubarnii and Delgon logos look great without the wings on them.
 The red triangles look as if they are set into the surface of the Devanu logo if they are then I would like to see  no white on the Devanu logo at all.
 But you could use 3 claw marks across the logo surface, The 3 claw marks can be used as a mark of different Devanu tribes and the claw marks position will vary from tribe to tribe. So you will have one basic  logo with lots of variation amongst the Devanu Clans. ???

I think they are all good and afaik they dont borrow any ideas from other games (no two headed eagles etc)

Distinctive in their own way but still tie in thematically with the new Twilight logo. GJ

I agree with Ork above, all very distinctive and thematic to Twilight.

Just want to chime with some late support for the Devanu icon. My personal reaction is positive as for me, I see these three mark scrawled into tree trunks, etched across boulders and so on; the Devanu vandalising surfaces to mark out territory.

In it's own way, the symbol also shows how far they have fallen, forced to scratch their mark out on whatever surface they can scavenge.

That's great, thanks Taelan (and everybody else). I'd kinda like to have a bunch of different takes on the Devanu symbol as it is so much less standardised than the Delgon and Empire. Those three simple slashes should scare any Fubarnii who see them...

Really like them. I can see the Devanu symbol scratched or painted in fubarnii blood on trees, rocks, what have you, as well as applied as a kind of warpaint to show which tribe you're part of.

I think I need to go convert a standard bearer with the Empire symbol on it. Now, where's that spare captain...
