The World Of Twilight

One of my favourite things about working on Twilight is getting input and feedback from you guys – it’s a great feeling to see a well painted army, hear about battles people have been playing in my little world, or read some random fluff or a story that expands the setting. For a while now I’ve been trying to think how best to thank people for sharing stuff and I’m going to have a go at introducing Twilight points. These will be given out in an arbitrary fashion based entirely on my whims. Basically, if somebody shares something that makes me smile then they’ll be awarded one or more Twilight Points. I’ll just post in the thread that the person has been awarded them.
I might have to start a Twilight Points tally thread as well, but for the moment I'll track them here. Points will have two functions. The first is that you can track the running total and be smug if you’ve got more than other people. Secondly, you can trade points for stuff. Those points can be traded in for some stuff from the Twilight range, which I’ll send out to you wherever you are in the world. I'll come up with a list of options for free stuff you can choose from and you can just drop me an email and I’ll sort it out.

The first thing I need to do is come up with a better name… There’s one Twilight Point (or whatever they are called) up for grabs to whoever comes up with the best name.
I’m also going to give everybody a point just for registering for the scheme (which just involves posting in this thread).

I'm going to start points from 1st November, but will be more generous with points to people who've already posted stuff. :)

General disclaimer
Twilight Points have no actual monetary value and I can change/stop the scheme at any time – they are a bit of fun and a way for me to say thanks when people do cool stuff. I’ll certainly try to honour it, but if it gets silly then I reserve the right to mess around with things… The last thing I want is for people to feel offended because I don’t give them enough points for something!

Kinda. Add something new to something you've done previously and I'll generally treat it all as the same item. I will refer back to the 'arbitrary whimsy' clause though  ;)

I really should explain how to redeem Twilight points!

The basic idea is that you can redeem Twilight Points in sets of at least 5, with each point allowing you to get about £2 worth of Twilight goodies. I'll formalise it going forward, but for the moment you just have to send me a PM/email and we can sort something out. You can also use the points to get specialist stuff that might not be available otherwise - early releases or random stuff that hasn't been fully released yet. For example, I have a couple of sets of new, thicker, spears for the militia (1pt for a sprue of 3 spears) that are mastered up but haven't got onto a production mould yet. There is also a Delgon weapon sprue, and the variant Knight Shields if anybody is interested.

Can anyone get these "points", or is it only people who've signed up to the scheme? I rather missed initially noticing these what with schoolwork and all that jazz.

It's an entirely open scheme, so of course you can join up. Anything new is potentially eligible for points, but if you take an old project and expand it then that counts. Did you ever finish your beastie?

It'll be getting some slight adjustments, but as soon as everybody has their parcels I'll be kicking off a painting challenge (but don't worry, anything painted already will still count)!

I'll try to finish either my Kelahn or mounted merchant by then :).

I'll have to get something painted if there is a challenge.

If the bragging points scheme is still happening, it can't hurt to toss my hat in.  :D

Twilight Points were awarded during the painting competition, at the start of the year, so the scheme is definitely up and running.  :)

Twilight points are an ongoing system for me to reward people who get involved. Sometimes it's more formal (during painting challenges), but other times I can just give them for something that looks particularly inspiring.
When I do run a painting challenge I do let people enter any models they've painted since the last challenge, so as not to penalise people who paint at other times  :)

As for a name it's just the 'point' part that should be changed so if anyone speaks of it, everyone should know what are they talking about. Now the Point is too vague, and it could refer to the point value of miniatures too.
"Twilight Award" or "Anyaral Award" sounds good for me. To alliterate, it could be "Twilight Trophy" too. Or maybe "Gil's Gifts", or something like that to make it more world-specific. If you want to emphasize that it could be used in exchange for Twilight goods, it could be "Merchants Medal" or "Traders Trophy" too.

To get points you just have to post cool stuff in the forums - if you make me smile then I'll post that you've earned a point or two  :)
Challenges are a bit more formal (but not much!)...
You then just have to remind me about them at a show or when you order online!

I'd like to participate in this scheme if that is ok, I've just got  back onto the forums recently and plan on posting as frequently as possible my progress and come up with ideas, scenarios and battle reports once my models are fully painted.

It’s been quiet for a long time, but happy to dust it off!
