Title: an exercise in poor painting and photography
Post by: ork56 on July 03, 2011, 10:52:05 am
I think my minis would happily sit under the acronym DBCI; doesnt bear close inspection

The big fella wandering the forest

and a group of Devanu making a hasty exit close by.

now you know why I wasnt fussed about missing the comp, but for me at least they look a lot better than when they were silver.

ps Mods. sorry if the pics are too big, Im also no expert on resizing before posting.

Good job Ork56, I think the green works well for the Devanu. Not sure I've seen any green ones yet. I love the earthy look of the big fella he seems very knarly and solid like a tree trunk.

You are far too hard on yourself. They are at a good gaming level, and the photos actually show them off nicely.
What's next on the painting desk?

I really like the devanu, nice colour scheme. More than acceptable painwork too I must add. Minis arnt meant to be viewed under a microscope and as long as you enjoy painting them thats all that matters.
And enter the next comp please. It really is all about taking part.   ;D

Nice base on Roban, and I echo the sentiments about the green Devanu; they are pretty cool.

You are a clean painter, in that the coats of paint look even and from what I can see you're neat. Both of those skills are a lot harder to master than people think.

I echo Klute’s point on viewing minis. Put you pictures up on the screen and look at them from about 8 feet away and you'll see what he means.

Very good, ork. :) I'll also echo the 'green Devanu' sentiment here, and I really like how Roban came out.  I also like the spots on the side of the neck of the furthest away devanu (jenta?). The red/green grishaks remind me a lot of south american poisonous frogs/toads. :D

I forgot to mention how nice the bases are as well! Did you make them yourself?

the large bases are from Kerr and King - woodland ones for the 40mm and a scifi urban mammoth themed one for Roban!

the grishak are on slate bases from 616-designs

K&K ones are very nicely detailed, 616 less so but cheaper; both my sets were well cast resin and I recommend either.
