Title: Desert-ish Fubanii Scenery (WIP)
Post by: Firah on April 25, 2012, 11:40:13 pm
Decided to make some scenery while I wait for some more models to arrive ^_^

Its going to be a trading station somewhere along the edges of the Argoran(sp?) wastes.

where the poles are will be shades/wind-breakers.

Looking good Firah! I like the two doors, one for queuing in and the other for the happy shoppers to leave, lol.

The only thing I'd say is that the card base will probably warp if it gets too much PVA glue on it, you might be better with a thin bit of plywood or MDF.

That is excellent - cant wait to see where it goes!
You should drop by the introductions section when you get a chance  :)

Its looking like a very characterful place already. I echo all the others in being most interested to see how it pans out. Great start!

Aye it warped a little, its fairly think mount board though so not too much, I'll probably get some wood if a do anything this big again.

On it! :D

Also here are some sketches of other buildings I might make for my town.

Cracking building you got there. I'm digging the sketches too, especially the restaurant.

Some great work there! That restaurant is begging to be made from a Starbucks or Costa cup.

Looking excellent, as are the sketches.
If you make the restaurant I will provide you with a few plates of bugs, bottles and bowls to finish it off :)

My only criticism at the moment is that the fabric doesn't look quite right - could do with being a bit more weathered.
Can't wait to see it finished!

I was thinking exactly that. Mike seems to have drawn a very artistic bunch with WoT!
Great sketches. They all look equally characterfull as the first. I particularly like the well myself - simple, but functional and certainly very Fubarnii

Begun Construction work on the café sort of thing

Deviated a little from the sketch to add a raised area at the back with an outdoor oven.

Gorgeous terrain!  I'll echo previous statements and agree that Twilight does indeed seem to have drawn a rather artistic crowd - I love the resourcefulness I've seen in terrain on this forum.

Very cool stuff Firah :D

I like the graphical style of the models too, strong angles and bold shapes; almost your line art in 3D.

A very good start using an Espresso can for the restaurant; makes it a Cafe already :D

Look forward to the next update.

Well this took a bit longer then I anticipated, and it's still not completely finished but:

Restaurant / Café

Still need to figure out what to put on the sign.

Bugs and mustard.

It even has board games, it's basically like Starbucks but with bugs.

Caution! Hot!

I also made a notice post - thing (with some Fubanii riding past)

Painting the notices

On an unrelated not does anyone know if the guys at Pyre are on holiday or something?

That is stunningly good! Could be straight out of Clan Orelan's territories (of some of the other desert tribes). I like the notice board stone as well  :)
Just needs a graku skulking around for scraps!
Do you have a pic of the roof? How about all the pieces together?

Loving it Firah! The notice post is very cool as is your attention to detail. :D

Am sure these must be worth some Twilight points...hint, hint...

Good point, certainly deserves some sort of reward... :)
Also, have we seen those painted knights and light cavalry previously?

That's some excellent scenery! As Mike said, quite reminiscent of Clan Orelan, very nice.

On the other question about Pyre... He's around but busy on some other projects. You should still be able to order Twilight figures from him, but if there are any problems then just drop me a line and we'll sort it out!

Some pictures of the cavalry  ;)

I am a terrible photographer.

I had a go at converting the guy at the front to have a big sword and a more charge-y pose.

Herders these guys and the knights ride their own breed of mottled-back enuk. I added a pashmina/scarf type thing too all the riders so they can cover their heads in the hot weather.

Painted shield. i couldn't decide whether i wanted these guys to be actual knights or not.

Pack enuk, in the traditional yellow as they belong to a trader.

Inspiring! Both the terrain and the conversions/paintjobs you did.
Like Hithero I really like to see a group shot with the terrain.

Sorry I know this was 'way back when' but,for me,this is the perfect representation of Anyaral and if I can make me some of this scenery and paint my figures similarly I'd be a happy gamer
Thanks for such excellent inspiration..any more where they came from?
Cheers

You might want to check out the competition section of the forum for more inspiration.
http://www.worldoftwilight.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0 (http://www.worldoftwilight.com/forum/index.php?board=15.0)

Mostly the competitions are for the miniatures, but there was a scenery competion last year.
