Thought we should have one, really. The general thread for how we are, what we're doing, et cetera.  :)

How about going completely mental.......4 weeks into the kids summer hols   :'(
Add to that my chronic fatigue syndrome and fondness of all things anxiety and depression related and you get the picture...............well you did ask.   ;D

But life goes on, keep chin up etc etc etc. Been like this for years now so used to it. What Im not used to is my daughters encroaching puberty...........God give me strength !!

Apart from that everythings fine and dandy. Got some more sculpting done today on the mounted herders and the wife's sister has had a baby so thats keeping her busy/off my back.  ;)

Looking forward to getting some twilight painted. Got lots to paint and finishing off some Hordes/Warmachine models I'm half way through before a big push on Delgon infantry. I still have the final details of my Tower to paint and pictures to post, as well as an unassembled stables. The never ending (and growing) list of unfinished projects... but not this weekend 'cause I'm in Belgium for the F1 :)

Far too tired, but hopeful that I might actually get a much-needed week off work next week  ;D
We had a big game of Warmachine a couple of week's ago (trolls vs khador) which has sparked some renewed interest in painting - I'm channeling that towards painting Delgon at the moment  :)

I'm in here in sunny (should say rainy) Florida - soaking up almost 100 degree weather.  My 5 year old daughter started school yesterday ( kindergarten ) and my 16 month year old son is currently destroying my home.  He has now discovered he can open the kitchen counter drawers. I work 50 hours a week and have been exhausted to paint miniatures (since the only time I can even start is almost 9pm)  although I have assembled all my Twilight models (except for one Baruk  ;) ).  I usually get to play warmachine more than other wargames/board games.  My main faction is Cryx, but I also play Trollbloods/Searforge/ and have a small Cygnar army.  I'm also trying to get my group to try out This Quar's War.  But I'm still assembling figures.  I hate multi pieces figures.  I wish I knew more about about Cryx models before I decide to start playing them, lol.  Stupid 9 piece each Bane Knight infantry unit and that 30+ piece Deathjack that took 18 pins! 

Anyways, everybody is relatively healthy and life is good.

I assembled and painted one of those huge warjack thingies for a commission a good while ago. The amount of cutting,filing and pinning was crazy. Cool model but very poor fit.

I think they have generally gotten better with newer sculpts. Main main issue is the general lack of scale control

Warmachine does have a very nice range of figures. I do tend to grumble about the insistence on all non-humans being anthropomorphics (pig men, fish men, gator men) or standard races, but I then end up buying them anyway :-[
I've got quite healthy sized armies of Khador and Circle, a large proportion of which are even painted!

I've got next week off, which is very exciting! Hopefully I'll have some time to do hobby-type stuff as well as enjoying time with my family (Lexie is eight months old today!).

From a much more jenta-ish view of the world, I got GCSE results back recently, verrrry happy (13 A*s, 1 A, and an A at AS). Which probably only shows the extent of grade inflation, but hey-ho.  ;D

Really want more painting time, or sculpting time, but I'm also trying to write a lot and the two things aren't terribly well fitted for space...

Cool, I was going to ask how the exams went.  I had a feeling you'd do well  ;)  What's your next step?

Just got back from a week's house sitting near Stevenage.  Wasn't quite as much of a holiday as I'd hoped, but yesterday we went to a big craft fair with lots of stalls and a Saxon village and I attempted to throw a pot (as in, on a wheel, not random crockery ammunition).
Looking forward to September when I will also be returning to the world of education to do a Postgrad Diploma in careers guidance.

Well done with those results Jubal - those are ridiculously good, even accounting for grade inflation!

Holidays are great. I've got this coming week off! I only got it confirmed on Friday, so no chance to plan ahead, which means we have a relaxing week planned  ;D

Maths Physics and Chemistry are the classics - but History? interesting choice!

I did Maths, Further Maths, Physics... and Classical Civilisation.  Loved it.  I'm looking forward to doing more essay writing.

I'm currently a Library Assistant, but it's not a real job.  I'm sort of having a gap year.  Before that I was Undergraduate Coordinator in the Politics dept at Bristol Uni.

I did applied maths, physics, chemistry and computer science (and general studies but no one counts that) - wish I'd thrown art in there instead of the chemistry - think i'd have liked a job with both the hard engineering AND the arty design - like an architect..

I did maths, physics and biology. I wanted to do Art as well, but was discouraged from doing that and briefly did Chemistry instead. I guess my teachers had a good point that I could keep doing arty stuff as a hobby, but it would be good to get more formal teaching in it at some point.
In my last year at Uni I went through a stage of wishing I had done an architecture degree - as with Alan, I think it looks to be a nice mix of art and engineering!

I did Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Art... and the dropped Chemisty after the first year. Formal teaching in art was... different. I did a term of a foundation course in art and graphic design after i left school, but that was a bit on the pretentious side. Not my cuppa. Now I'm wishing I had stuck to my guns and gone for the Sports Science degree I initially had my eyes on. Still, things work out the way they do...

ok, so we have established that we are all ridiculously well educated and smart on this forum :)

now i wonder whether there is any correlation between academic achievement and a liking for toy soldiers?

personally i think there is - its about exercising the imagination to create...

I wonder also, I have spent 9 years in college.  I have spent 5 years earning my Bachelors in Biology and another 4 years earning a Doctorate in Pharmacy.  And I have to say, I love toy soldiers, and legos, and first thing I do when I go into a department store is to head to the toy isle.  And I swear, my drivers liscense says I'm 35, lol.

Or possibly it's a correlation between geek, science/engineering subjects and wargaming...

On a bit of a tangent...
I've spent most of this afternoon (after going to 'baby signing' with Lexie and Jules) sorting out my shed. I now have a nifty little workbench (designed and built from scratch) where I can sort and pack little metal figures!  ;D I also have much better storage for the packed figures. I'm feeling stupidly proud of myself for such a minor achievement...

erm... i know i shouldn't ask... but WHERE did you sign your baby and did you use indelible ink?

Well done with the shed thing.  I know sheds are important to men.   :P

There seems to be a better correlation between sciences and wargaming than history or english and wargaming, which is interesting... I suspect it's more the fact that that's how these things have grown than a natural correlation though (same with the male/female split on wargames, my suspicion is that if more girls let themselves get into such hobbies they'd actually probably enjoy them; it's an "oh, that's geeky" thing).

History's actually probably what I want to do degree-wise, but to leave the option open one needs more sciences than arts really - certainly looking at several universities they accept Maths as a core subject for arts subjects, so Maths + History = one valid combo for History, as does Maths + Chem + Physics to do a Physics degree.

Yeah, but the bad news is that i have to work a 50 hours this week, take the kids to school everyday, do the zillion and one things around the house, and still try to find time to put together the 2 Kosok models I received in the mail today before I can get to that weekend. UGH!

Sounds like fun. Last week was similar for me, but hopefully this week will be a slight improvement!
What are your plans for the Kosok? Ben showed me how he reposed one and I've been meaning to share some pics.

I might have to wait a bit longer till I see some of these pics.  I don't mind doing one the standard pose, but it would cool the have the second one in a different pose.  I haven't looked over the model enough to think about reposing.  I did notice it's only 2 pieces plus the tree stand which makes me happy. 

If you are careful then you can bend the wings quite substantially. I'll see what I can do about uploading some photos.

Travelling this weekend, so limited to replying from my phone... Rather slow and cumbersome, which is a shame as lots of threads I want to reply to!

Wow it's rather snowy outside! Not quite snowy enough to justify staying at home though (one of the disadvantages of living 5 minutes from work...), so I can't spend the day playing and sculpting...

God, I hated Physics. I took Physics I and II with Calculus in college and I couldn't wait for those classes to finish.
