Title: Booom, the Slann is back ;) March Entry - Noble Guard and Trading Caravan
Post by: The Slann on January 13, 2015, 12:39:45 pm
Well, now they are completely done, Dhogu starter and Yirnak Addon in all their glory!

Groupshot!

And a better pic with unfinished bases:

I'm working on the light-setup. Will get there eventually.

Next force will be the empire. Because they are finished already, just need good pics :)

Cheers!

Excellent!
They do look rather good as a force :)

Thx! The red turned out pretty okay, especially with the silver details, and the snow on the Yirnak works well I think. The time for detailing and stuff will be the noble guard, but I like this look on the Dhogu.

cheers

A great looking force and I particularly like the snow on the Yirnak, makes them look like they've been trudging through the snow for hours.

Great job, I agree with the rest the snow on the shoulders of the Yirnak is a great touch, I may attempt to copy
it myself once my Dhogu hit the painting table.

Thx guys!
I basically could use some of the good old weathering tricks on them, that I normally only use on tanks, will try it on Roban too.

How come I missed the snow on the Yirnaks, ...
They look great! Perhaps you can post a tutorial on how you did the snow.
Can't wait to see your Roban painted.

Oh well, the pic sucks a bit, but I think there are better ones anyways in my painting log.

Btw, one knight is missing because he joined a noble guard ;) and the Graku might join Gil, as this force now is 250 exactly.

Cheers

I think you did a very good job on those.
The blue's make them really stand out.

What is the address to get to your blog?
As I can't seem to find it.

Liking the look of the clan Orel as well as the dhogu which have been great to watch progress. Also checked out your blog - there's some nice stuff on there! Consider yourself followed  ;D

Very nice!!!

Cold looking too, I like the snow build up on the beasts. That is something I would easily mess up too.   ;D

Title: Re: February Challenge - The Slann: Delgon and Devanu
Post by: The Slann on February 23, 2015, 09:24:05 pm
The next lot is done! I finally finished my Delgon and Devanu, which I started before my Dhogu, but I liked the Dhogu more :D

Anyways, the bases are still drying, so paint on them tomorrow, but some pics for now, so you know what's going on :D

Devanu:

Delgon:

The "expansion, I'm a force on my own..." Roban!!! Dun dun duuuun
(http://en.fotoalbum.eu/images1/201209/219412/839326/00000004.jpg)

I'm really trying on getting better pics, but I figured that my camera is worse than my phone, so I stick with that one at the moment.

I need to steal the camera of my sis probably...

Cheers for tonight!

Ps: I hate painting yellow, so the Devanu Boss might get a different color. like brown. like all of them. Which actually works. That's why I painted my Minotaurs and hundreds of guardsmen before a single Imperial Fist. grumpygrumpygrumpy...

More good work!
You should try using more light - looks like you've only got one light at the moment?

They look very good.
But like Carcharoth already said, the pictures are a bit dark.
A close up from Roban would also be appreciated ;).

Wohooo, donedonedone.

And better pics I believe. Well first the light setup:

So, no, first the Devanu:

Now onto the Delgon:

Groupshot with the big guy

Why so serious?

Cheers :D

Ps: Btw, the base edges aren't painted yet, because I'll probably decide on a color for all my armies together in the end. Also, I kinda like the dirty look on the sloped bases, so, we'll see.
And the Delgon might actually get snow on the bases like their allies, but I'm not sure on that one.

PPs: The very careful observer will spot two missing shields. Well, I couldn't on my desk, so... they lost 'em on the battlefield I believe...

Roban looks awesome. I didn't realize the model was so big compared to the others. the coloring on the armor is subtle but quite spiffy. and I also liked the use of the tree to give the flyer some distance.   :)

Hadn't noticed the tree at first - nice work.

All of them looking great!

You have been prolific.

Yes, he is a true monster.
Thx for the nice words on the base, I actually came up with it just today, thinking that I might give the tree some foliage, so he needed more distance anyways. Good thing I have steel rods at home ;)

Thx again :D
Also yeah, learned a new word in English today ;) You never stop, they told us at some point :D

Now onto painting white... damn... but I like it better than the stupid yellow on the Devanu.

Nobels, here I come!

Thanks for the pictures! Quite some amazing looking forces you are gathering.
It was already said before, but very nice work on the kosok and Roban!

Roban looks very impressive and I love how you've added the tree onto the base (not Roban's), great touch.

I like how you've done the Kosok - nice to see the model getting a little bit of extra height. Did you have to rebase it after the first photo, or did you suddenly feel inspired?
The new photography certainly helps as well :)

Looks like you've got a solid 5pts for this month (even without those shields!)  ;D

Thx for the nice words :D

@Carcharoth: Yeah, it fell of again, so I though, let's try something. On a very close look you also see that there is a chip of paint missing on the yellow Devanu, because he fell to the ground five minutes before the photo shooting ;)

Wohoo, 5 points for Slytherin ;)

Well, guess who is still alive and finished his painting - ME surprise :)

This month was going crazy fast, so I didn't get to finish details on the minis, thx for three exams and other real live problems. Need to find that portal to Anyaral to escape those ;) There will be more done on the noble guard, especially do I need to finish the Noble himself, but he sits with other characters and is waiting for some more time and effort, maybe even a little display. Anyway, 2 more playable forces, and most important, a mighty lumbering Belan expansion. Also waiting for a little bit more love, but base colors done. Thankfully, he doesn't need a base to stand. Where is that base again. Oh well. Nuff rambling, here we go with the pics.

I know the pics aren't best quality again, but thankfully, I'll see my sis and here over the top camera next week, so expect better pictures of all my forces around Wednesday.

So, anyone in for raiding a caravan?

Cheers,
The Slann

Ps: I have no clue why the pics are so large this time, same crapy phone cam as always... Well, ctrl+- does the job ;)

Boom is right!  ;D  that's a lot of models done.  I had wondered which group you were going to go with and Bam! appearently why not do both? nice diligence.    :)   I quite like the green crests on the guard and am envious of your stylish looking Belan as mine still sits in primer white.

I really liked the challenge, now I'm going for the characters with some more time and effort. And I might need to order some Frenu and the other new minis... :D
