Title: Salute 2016
Post by: Carcharoth on April 05, 2016, 08:50:29 am
It's less than two weeks until Salute!
It's always an exciting/chaotic time and the recent kickstarter hasn't diminished the chaos at all...

We've got a bunch of new releases to announce over the next few days that will be available at Salute! All going well I'll have the new expansion deck of cards, plus maybe a printed copy of the Traveller (see here  (http://www.worldoftwilight.com/forum/index.php?topic=2032.0)for a chance to influence the contents...).
As for new figures... I've got a big metal delivery due today and off the top of my head we should have:
  • New trebarnii unit, with a boss, 4 warriors and a brute
  • New engineer
  • Dhogu shaman
  • Single part dhogu spear unit
  • Elder belan rider
  • Unladen baruk
  • Nobleguard with crossbow
  • A tiny new pet for your noble
More details and pictures to follow!
Plus I will have a limited number of Casanii models - these will be available for kickstarter backers to get early if they contact me in advance and I might have a few spares as well.

So, who will be joining us?

or Dhogu.......

 :o

Intrigued by the possibility of picking up my Casanii, would love to get some paint on them  :)

Lots of activity on the forum today - exciting times in Anyaral!  ;D

I will be at Salute with my son Tom.

I think I might be looking to pick up all of these new pieces. Also, a while ago you mentioned, that if I ask nicely,  I may be able to purchase a single Engu Garosa without having to purchase the whole warrior unit. Any chance of doing this at Salute? :-*

I would also like to pick up any of my Casanii pledge that is available.

Phil Wilkins

Incidentally, we had a Twilight game at the weekend. My Delgon started well, but eventually were comfortably defeated by Tom's Empire troops (ably supported by a Casanii scout)

Looking forward to meeting you all - new faces and old. Please do say hi and mention the forum - I'll do my best to make the right connections  :)

or Dhogu.......

What is this "or" word you keep using....?  ;)

haha I will hopefully get everything at some point....... :o

With my newfound love of painting up the myriad of creatures, I am looking forward to seeing the "naked" Baruk :)

(on that note) I'm pretty sure I appear to have missed an alternate laden Enuk carrying fruit baskets at some point????

He was subtly released a few years back... Possibly for the Kickstarter or even before that... I now sell the pair as a set. I can see if it would mess up stock to find you one on its own if you would like?

I'll be there!
Helping out on the Konflict 47/Clockwork Goblin stand, but will definitely pop over for a World of Twilight fix when I get a moment.

Also might pick myself up a big beastie - any Dompaku still available for Salute? Or a Belan? Whichever is bigger - that's the one I want!

I won't be there personally, but I'll be sending my mate to pick me up the new Belan Rider and a couple of Laden Belan.  ;D

I wasn't going to post pics of the herd until after the show, but I did so on Facebook without thinking, so I might as well add it to the forums too - couple of bits more to add, but it's getting there, nearly ready!

Some pictures (or at least I was going to post pictures, but my computer seems to be dying... I'll try and plug the gaps tomorrow unless anybody is feeling particularly helpful and would like to post the other images!)!
Preorders are also now open in the webstore   (http://worldoftwilight.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=24) :)
You can make preorders until Wednesday night.

Also, here are some ramblings from facebook:
Here are a few more of the new releases that I'll have at salute!
First, we have Belomoch tre Hearne (quite a mouthful I know...), a particularly eccentric young engineer from Teral. Some engineers will chance upon amazingly useful or world-changing creations, like Beru with his derak. Belomoch on the other hand is still looking for such a creation and has had little impact on the world so far (aside from burning down his crèche and leaving a few craters (and his left arm) around teral).
It's probably best not to ask what he's got in his mechanical hand...
(Belomoch was designed as a thank you for my friends, Ben and Louise, so they take a lot of the blame for him!)
(http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh269/Xrgut/Belomoch.jpg) (http://s258.photobucket.com/user/Xrgut/media/Belomoch.jpg.html)
Belomoch is accompanied by a crossbow wielding nobleguard. At the moment these are a very rare sight, but they are becoming more fashionable among the empire's wealthy and elite! I've got a few initial casts at the moment, so let me know if you think he should join the range.
(http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh269/Xrgut/Noble%20Crossbow.jpg) (http://s258.photobucket.com/user/Xrgut/media/Noble%20Crossbow.jpg.html)
Then there is the unladen baruk. These creatures have previously only been seen laden down with heavy bags of goods, so following some encouragement on the forum I thought it was time to give one a bit of time off to graze and relax.
Finally (for the moment) we have a new pet for the nobles. Preeprees are great for the noble about court, but there are obvious hazards with taking such a valuable and fragile pet outside your mansion. The alideku are an obvious alternative choice if your noble wishes to take a stroll through the country without a retinue of vets and preepree handlers. Alideku are still entirely useless for hunting or protecting, but purebred lines are still suitably expensive to act as an indicator of ludicrous wealth.
A few alideku will be residing in this year's freebie box

The shaman was sculpted by Mark Craggs and will probably become a named character for the dhogu. He's a master at commanding beasts and his followers believe he can even control the weather.
I've also put together a unit of single piece dhogu. They aren't quite as flexible as the multipart ones, but they are a lot easier to work with! It also allows me to increase the number of models in the unit. I've taken the opportunity to sculpt extra bags and little packs onto the models so every model in the unit is unique.
Due to me being disorganised I seem to have a bit of a stock shortage on the old dhogu, so I will only have a handful of starter forces and no individual yirnak riders or bows... Sorry!

The Casanii are amazing!!! What fun!

I like the new sculps too. A few of the pics aren't coming through on my device but as regards the crossbowman, personally I love the idea of including him in the range.

So, so many amazing new releases, ...
The shaman makes me want to collect the Dhogu (a faction I was trying to avoid so far), the steampunk flair on the engineer is wonderful and the rest made my mouth water as well.
What is the alideku though? He looks a bit like another pampered pet for the nobles.

Paul, that is a great groupshot and I like the herd and dompaku a lot.

Thanks for the help with the pictures!
The alideku is indeed another pampered pet. I should come up with a scenario for using them...

Title: Re: Salute 2016
Post by: Danu Kopa on April 13, 2016, 02:02:18 pm
I was thinking the same thing! A scenario involving the two. This may not be what you had in mind but it would go like this;
Trouble Behind the Throne
Jealous over the lavish attention that the spoiled Pree Pree- "Contilly" has lately enjoyed. The Alideku - "Artmaxicron" desides to bring her down a notch by nipping her on the rump. Meanwhile while the Emperor and his top counselors and Generals discuss the ramifications of the fall of Tonueil and the empires response, 'Max' edges closer to the beautiful 'Conti' as she is known to the royal court. She sits proud and magnificent at the side of the throne at that moment. A strange flicker of movement interupts her quiet meditation. Conti deftly sidesteps and Max misses with his first lunge. Conti beats a retreat behind the throne among the boxes of tribute, baskets of gifts, and other furniture and the trappings of the royal court. Max follows in hot pursuit followed by she sounds of falling silverware and brass candlesticks.

Stats needed. Possible latent psionic powers for the Pree Pree "Contilly" (That magnificent comb cannot be just for show?)

But surely then you'd want a section of noble guard, with the primary directive of PriPri protection....

Oh wait.....  ;D

The stand was rammed pretty all day as far as I saw.The guys needed every one of their helpers and there were lots of them but they did a sterling job.Their set up is top notch with all the figures set out, numerous price lists and catalogues for all to peruse, all the minis painted next to the demo table and help always on hand....very impressive
I hope they sold loads

It was a great show. Slightly different location to previously, but still close to the entrance.
We were certainly kept busy and the games looked to have some great participants.
Looking forward to seeing what everybody comes up with now - sounds like we might be seeing some more painted figures and projects here over the next month or two  ;D

I was the one playing the game whilst you were giving the interview, had i known who you were would have said hi!  the "bug hunt" scenerio was a great hook to get people interested in the game.  I wish I'd made it back for the big game hunt, but forgot to ask what time it started...  >:(

Title: Re: Salute 2016
Post by: TuffSkull on April 20, 2016, 05:28:28 pm
To be honest, you probably did better getting in on the bug hunts - the big game hunt ended up somewhat over subscribed to start with and a little chaotic.

I've only just noticed myself, I think the video actually captures the moment tiredness got the better of me - right as I completely missed that possible combat and cleared stones away before resolving it  :-[ :-\
