Title: The Enarii
Post by: Megatron0 on April 23, 2011, 05:52:21 pm
Ok so they have been acknowledged by the Delgon as gods but are they really? In the story it seems like they have displayed nothing of their divinity other then they are stompy and big. In fact one was wounded!
Interestingly they also seem to be detached from the delgon (well a couple of them anyway) so might not be Divine but more then happy to take the Delgon worship and hospitality.
They too like the Faburnii display a hatred of the Devanu (which is interesting) Also what about Alaim the outcast? Might we see him join the Faburnii empire? Or will he be a mercenary option? The potential for this Enarii is interesting!
What are peoples thoughts of these guys?

Good question. The fubarnii don't necessarily expect the enarii to be particularly magical gods - the enarii were once great fubarnii who were selected by the old gods to live on the moon of enar with them. At certain times you can see their campfires, and most priest-engineers within the empire would spend their time building large telescopes to study those fires, or building large signs on the ground so the enarii can see their prayers. You often see prayers written on rooftops as well, and some farmers even go so far as planting their crops carefully. They don't really expect the enarii to do much, but it's worth a try.

As to whether the belog/enarii are actually the enarii? That is something I'm not telling. Injuries are certainly not disproof of divinity. Even death wouldn't prove anything.

If anything the enarii have more of a hatred than most fubarnii. The fubarnii see them as a bit of a natural hazard - something that needs to be dealt with, but most don't really hate them. Roban would see every Devanu exterminated and wiped from the world.

You will find out more about alaim eventually.

For the moment, do feel free to discuss/argue your thoughts on the enarii. Not that any true Delgon citizen would question the gods, or the priests that intpret their will.

Ah it's interesting that perhaps they arn't magical as much as buff warriors. I would love to see perhaps some other Enarii move to the empire and declare the Delgon Belog false gods! wouldn't that be a plot twist :O
I also like the idea of the prayer roofs and crops thats a great piece of tabletop terrain waiting to happen!

Don't make the mistake of thinking of the enarii as dumb trolls though! They are clever individuals who clearly benefit from the experience theyve gained during their long long lives (one of the advantages of being almost immortal).

Yeah I understand that there are a few Enarii researchers as well! It would be great to see an academic Enarii model perhaps with some strategy related abilities...now the question; will the Enarii ever get mounts! though Roban does move really fast anyway :P

*rushes off to get rulebook*
Malog is the Enarii's name :D and he is the patron of all the Delgon engineers! Engineer buffs anyone? :D

I've been waiting for Malog for 'a while'.

they sound more like the norse gods to me, more warriors than wizards

Yeah thats a good comparison! though Odin IIRC was extremely magical :P
They might be reincarnation gods. maybe If a Fubarnii suffers a terrible pain or something when it dies it reincarnates as some warrior to avenge the fallen? Like Roban.
Also Lord Furbanii your pic made me laugh! thats alot of Belan!

When fubarnii die they are cremated and their ashes scattered to the winds in the hope that some part of them might make it's way to Enar. Thats one of the reasons they dislike water so much - to be drowned or lost in water pretty much guarantees that no part of the body will make it to Enar.

Ahh. So what of the lost faburnii souls? do they become tortured spirits? wandering the land? I guess if they go and live in Enar thats reincarnation out of the question. Hmmm The Enarii are indeed complex to figure out...

I think the lost souls just die and cease to exist.
The enarii are all effectively resurrected fubarnii that live on Enar. If part of the fubarnii reach enar then it is believed that the enarii may choose to resurrect them from that, if they have been seen to do good deeds during their lives.

Like the idea that they can return. Its so epic!

Some one should have a word with their engineers about escape velocity, gravity wells and the likelihood of anything from anyaral wafting interplanetary distances to their moon...

its a shame the souls die some ghost fubarnii would be cool, or an aquatic race that the fubarnii really fear because the drag them into the sea, the equivilent of demons to them, taking theyre souls to a watery hell below the surface

The Fubarnii are scared enough of water as it is... :S

The Fubarnii have myths and legends themselves. I expect they believe in ghosts and watery demons - whether they are true or not remains to be seen.
Imagine the religions of anyaral as being similar to those of earth. There are variants on similar religions much as Protestants and Catholicism. For most fubarnii their religion may be important, but not impact that much, for others it is a driving force. There are older beliefs and superstitions that may or may not mesh logically with the main religion, but that may not matter on the most part. I'm going to steer clear of any comments on the truth of any religions, either here or on anyaral as belief is important. Twilight is mainly from the view of the fubarnii, and they sincerely believe that the gods live on Enar. The Gerald believe in spirits that can be attracted by little marked stones (as carried by traders, who probably also believe in the enarii...).
In summary, there may be fubarnii ghosts, but they won't have a stat line  ;)

I think it's a mistype of Ferals, looking at the keyboard.

Although now you mention it I CAN imagine a Fubarnii called Gerald...

There does tend to be a long implementation time for ideas, so we are still working through concepts that I was knocking around 5 or so years ago (even longer for the ferals)... This does mean there is a lot of Anyaral that I haven't really mentioned yet, but that I have plans for. :)

Yeah youve already got me planning stuff a dozen sculpts ahead of myself. You plant the seed and expect me not to get carried away with it. Tin foil hat time.

I do have some good ideas though but need to get a thread going concerning earth-anyaral technology comparisons. eg....how would a fubarnii blow a hole in the side of a mountain ?

With a really dig straw...?

Maybe they exploit a natural cavern and fill it with some kind of gas producing fungi then light a match. I can only assume they'd need some kind of refined explosive or some random natural resource to exploit.

Booo :P

Maybe there is a type of fungus that produces Gas? they fill a cave with it seal it off wait a week, come back and light a match?...(Just realised thats the exact same thing HN said. Well great minds think alike)
Or why not a big drill? In my Devanu story my engineer has a drilling team. Could be cool :D

Engineer Jehrah has a drilling rig too, albeit a small one, but considering he has access to deraks, and is adept at installing pipes....

You are all thinking like humans rather than fubarnii. The correct answer is push from the other side.
