Styrene tube is not cheap.

For example the 5.5mm wide tube used in the conical roofs and for the pillars of the watchtower are £2.99 for 3 pieces 350mm long. Thats £1 for 350mm of material which will JUST make one watchtower.

So i got to thinking what is widely available, cheap and tough which might be used instead.

PENCILS!

a standard size - bought in bulk and cut to length.... without looking far ... http://www.viking-direct.co.uk/a/sku/business%2FGolf-Pencils-Box-Of-144/pr=Q27&id=4099/ thats 144 pencils (enough for 24 watchtower kits) for £8.49 or 35p per tower... 65p saving.

god i need a life... Sad

Amusing that pencils are cheaper than the equivalent wood!
We were playing tabletennis the other day and I was wondering if pingpong balls had featured in any of your ideas yet...
good ideas though. How easy are pingpong balls to cut in half?

I felt sure either you or ben were going to reply to this thread with just "Or what."

i don't neet to cut the pingpong balls, i can lasercut a hole just fractionally smaller than a ping pong ball and it will sit in it and be superglued.

they aren't hard to cut though - just a craft knife will do it... once you pierce the skin they are a bit floppy though
