Last week, Mike offered me the opportunity to have my prize (from the painting competition) cashed in for the new Dhogu on foot - and how could I refuse? Also persuaded Mike to let me have a copy of the Yirnak Rider for some cool cash  Smiley

Package showed up yesterday and looked something like this:

Not that I have time for them now, but I really had to assemble them. Especially eager to try out that bow conversion option. Cause yes, on that weapon sprue - there is the well-discussed short bow option for the Dhogu Cheesy Did the conversion last night and tweeted about them today - but Mike also suggested me posting them here - cause how looks at Twitter?

So here they are:

A pair of Dhogu with fighting knives and short bow:

Yirnak Rider:

(also a conversion as I used the more stretched out arm for the bow -but preferred this to the throwing spear).

I really, really like this. The design is über-cool and seeing them multipart like this will give us so many options. Really looking forward seeing where this is heading, Mike. And like to hear about the Halberd. An interesting weapon ... Smiley

Ohh! And I'm sorry for the quality of the pictures, but my Smart phone is to smart for me to bring out my camera Cheesy

EDIT: And if anybody should wonder what's the little guy left in the sealed bag is .... well!!? Smiley It's a "secret" Pree-Pree - gift (look at the creature design contest for more info). Don't know if he's been shown here before - but if not, here he is:

Sssh, the pree-pree is a secret  Wink
He's going to be very limited for a while anyway - a little bonus prize for competitions, or for people who do something helpful on the site etc. I'm not saying he'll never go into production, but not for the moment.

I'm not sure how much the dhogu will change before they get released, but I've got a few more ideas for them that i want to play with... Feel free to suggest if you've got any good ideas for what I should do.

Would they make use of flying creatures? I could imagine them being used to carry messages between disparate tribes, for hunting and possibly war. Maybe as a pet for chiefs or something.

Ooh they look great. The bow option looks cool.

Whats your opinion on the multi part aspect of these ? Seperate arms and heads are what Im going for in most of my sculpts now and Im keen to hear peoples thoughts. Is the extra "fitting" time worth it for the options you get from them ?

Halberds are primarily for the noble guards. I think they would be quite limited due to the size/composition.

Thanks guys, and can't come as a surprice that I love that bow, too Tongue

I really like the new multi part way of doing things. Like having the chance of customizing my miniatures. Lots of the Twilight miniatures only come with - like - to poses with a seperate arm perhaps - and in larger units they tend to look similar/the same. In a ranked game Im fine with that, but in skirmish games, I like them to look like individuals, and the new style gives me that oppurtunity. So I'm pleased Smiley

But assambling them was a mass. Had sticky superglu all over, and was glad that I've bought some glue activator to help speeding up the process Cheesy But still think it's worth it. But I'll probably regret not pinning them Wink

Very cool! I have the Dhogu rider coming and eager about him too.  Really looks nice.  The individual dhogu look great too: I'm sure I'll pick them up eventually, when I can get a big unit to work on all at once.  really liking the look of the bow too.. yeah, I won't be able to resist getting a dhogu hunting party  Grin

Fluff-wise, the Dhogu are a widespread race, and certainly aren't exclusive to the Delgon. I like the idea of a northern clan that uses Dhogu allies, but I'll have to think how exactly that might work!

Glad the multipart is okay with you guys - it does make them more fiddly to assemble, but opens up options. Ideally I'd have some fixed and some multipart variants, but not sure that's financially viable. We shall see!

I think itll be a while until I get these into full production, but I've been talking to Darren about giving him a few sets for a limited release, so keep your eyes open.
