As the title says lets have some suggestions of what character models you would like to see in the range.
I myself am pretty keen to sculpt a "special" character once the mounted herders are done and one idea that came to mind was an assassin type, Delgon maybe. Not as much cloak and dagger. More like cloak and spanner in the works. Plenty of stealth ending in lots of disruption via smoke grenades, oil slicks or whatever. Of course a poisoned dagger wouldnt go amiss too.

So come on lets have some suggestions.   Grin

- How about a Devanu Kopa character, but he is half Devanu and half machine.  Maybe has one regular leg and one steam power leg like a strider.  Maybe even a steam powered arm too (on the same side of body, kinda like he injured badly on one side and forced his Fubarnii slaves to build him limbs).

- How about a Devanu Sempa Slaver.  He would have  a flail whip in one hand and comes with four fubarnii slaves (kinda like a unit).  These Fubarnii have been enslaved for such a long time and have their spirit so broken but they can do nothing but follow the slavers orders, no matter what their master's command is.  The fubarnii would have no shirts and scars on the backs from repeated beatings  and have chains hanging from their wrists.  The fubarnii slaves might have crude weapons like a club.

- Fubarnii twin warriors (would be a unique unit of two models) basically would be something between a Militia captain and Commander Brenar with unique abilities that play off each other.  Should have really cool background/history too  Think something like the games workshop Lotr elven twin brothers: Elladan & Elrohir ( http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat460018a&prodId=prod1130290) .  They can be played separately or played together.  Can have abilities like when X brother is in play, this model gets X ability.

- A Fubarnii clan leader, don't have to scuplt 37 different ones  Grin but can have a generic Fubarnii clan leader.  Maybe even make a few unique ones (can be the next contest too, create a clan leader?)

- A Fubarnii Elder, can have a cane and look very aged.  Would be something interesting too see since most Fubarnii so far look to be in their prime.

I don't really have any Delgon ideas.

What about the Emperor Himself?

He comes with an entourage, some kick ass, some liabilities. He has a personal bodyguard, headed by an able but elderly general. Some advisors, sycophants, hangers-on with pets, fat, neutered servants? They play as a unit and the task is to manage their strengths and weaknesses. Priority 1 is protect the Emperor, 2 his Elderly general, 3 one of his advisors.

The liability factors might be fun, maybe if one of the pet minders is killed, the Emperor's pet runs off randomly and the Emperor will personally go after it? If one of the two advisors is killed/captured, the other one (if in command radius) attempts to command the bodyguard and randomly conflicts with the general's (player's) control of the unit. So the unit circles around the cowardly advisor? That kind of stuff.

That's a fun idea with the Emperor. You could also do something similar with a clan leader, or a rich trader. I would love to do a big fat trader riding on some poor rare beast that he's had imported from one of the distant islands. I expect he'd have a pampered pree pree with him. A natural accompaniment to him would be some rather fancily dressed infantry with ornate pikes and excessive plumes. The sycophantic entourage would also be a nice touch.
As an aside, I do quite like the idea of a clan leader design competition.

I'd like to see a really old engineer, wrapped in lots of blankets and carrying lots of stuff on his wizened and bent back.

A delgon priest engineer - a big solid looking Delgon carrying lots of tools and pouches and wearing metal shoes on his hooves. In game terms he would be handy for giving the Striders a re-fuel or tuning up some of the deraks.

A delgon assassin may well be a 'tamed' dhogu. An even smaller Fubarnii dressed in lighter furs than his dhogu brethren, but wearing a cloak and well equipped with the sort of devices Mark was suggesting. Sounds like just the sort of asset the priests would appreciate for doing their dirty work.

Ooh cool ideas.
Clan leader competition sounds fun too. Maybe each entry has to include a banner/totem etc for the clan colours and emblem to be placed on. Could add to scenerios too.

character models? hmmm... not usually my cup of tea... i'd prefer to see more rank and file in differing poses to create larger groups/units with interest.

i guess more traders in differing styles so you can have a larger caravan would be nice too, as would more baruk/enuk

for proper characters, can i be sneaky and ask for ME?

Brandlin... furbarnii engineer/ chief architect... with goggles naturally but unarmed... plenty of opprtunities to do different hands with different tools etc, sextent, theodolite, telescopem wrench, welding torch (cue discussion on tech), spirit level, measuring tape on a wheel etc... hard yellow hat, hi vis jacket optional...

while i like the engineer figures, the fact that he is carrying a derak does kinda make hima mobile cannon rather than reflecting the true role of the engineers in fubarnii society...

Hi MrBigLizardusek! That Kopa is a good idea and actually sounds a bit like Arak Katain. I'm sure there must be pics of him somewhere around here... Ben is painting him at the moment and he's going to be released in a couple of weeks  Smiley

As arrogant as Brandlin's idea sounds, I actually like it.  Grin I agree that the current engineer is rather atypical and an unarmed one would be a great addition. Your idea sounds a bit like my thoughts for the Delgon engineer, but there would be a very different feel to engineers from the two nations.

I think the delgon Engineer character would probably be the best choice if you want to make an engineer character.  It can interact with the striders (ie. refuel them, etc..)  A regular fubarnii engineer would be interesting, but what would he be used for?  The fubarnii don't have any contraptions, yet?  Maybe a fubarnii engineer would be required to set up traps for devanu I guess.  Maybe fielding a fubarnii engineer lets you place 3 hidden traps on the board or something?

I would really like to see a character Grishak.  Like an Alpha Grishnak.  One that is maybe larger than the others.  Wonder what one would look like.

Don't you dare make and engineer character to work on the striders and name it Brandlin!!

A regular fubarnii engineer would be interesting, but what would he be used for?

For looking after - they are the respected elders of the race.

There was a part of me who was sorely tempted, but I get the feeling you might never forgive me  Smiley

Exactly, they would be character pieces to begin with for specific scenarios - much like the kiddies or the traders. It's nice to have a small portion of the range that fleshes out the world, even if they don't have an immediate gaming purpose.
But saying that, it is also fun to tie those characters in with the game, and Jubal's engineer examples would be a prime method, or something simple like traps.

An alpha grishak would be cool, but I've got some other ideas for beasts I'd like to explore first!
