You find this at the bottom of the forum:

" Most Online Ever: 34 (August 17, 2010, 06:35:59 PM) "

That's awesome!

Wow that's a good number of people on the forum! I think that will have just followed the announcement of the Yirnak and Kosok releases on TTGN. Smiley

I see on August 29th, we beat our old record and increased by to 1 to 35 members, woot!

I'm not sure if most members see the Forum stats link at the bottom of the main forum page (or even really care), but it gives stats about whats, how much, how many members, etc.... that is going on with the forum.

Well, one stat in particular intrigued me.  I'll cut and past here:

Forum History

Monthly Summary     New Topics     New Posts     New Members     Most Online
September 2010                - removed as the month is not complete
August 2010                19               216            230             35
July 2010                        23               226             27             13
June 2010                        38               446             12             11
May 2010                        72                    725             45             11

The thing that intrigued me about this stat is that in May and June we had a huge amount of New Topics and New Posts but very few members and most online was low.  And now in July & August we are the sitting on the opposite.  Our new members have increased a lot with 230 in just August (Wow!) and most online hit a new record of 35!, but our new topics and new posts has hit it's all time low.

So what does all this mean?? Well, let make more posts and keep the wheel rolling.  We got a lot of new members, so lets keep posting and keep them interested.

is that a real figure for august? it doesn't seem as if there was anything significant enough happening to provoke that many members? if it's real then great! but i suspect if might be a whole rafte of dud spammer accounts?

Tom - how does the membership list look? sensible names? many members registered in the same couple of minutes? many of them logged on again since they registered etc?

May and June were busy months with new posts - i think i may have been responsible for more than an equal share as i put a lot of my building stuff up... I've consequently been very quiet in August.

Quick check on the member list and I reckon at least 50% are bots.

Yep, I was looking the other day and wondering the best way to tidy it.  Is there any sure way of telling if it's a bot?  I wouldn't want to boot someone genuine who's just being shy.

I was just using quick common sense going from the email addys and websites. If your going to have a clean up then I would suggest posting a warning on the forum first with a pre emptive apology if anyone is deleted that shouldnt be and could they please contact someone if it does happen to them.

Yup, a little bit annoying. I've asked Tom if there is a simple way to tighten up on those, but not sure yet.
Oddly enough we haven't been getting many annoying posts from them, which I suppose is something!

the bots basically scour the threads and try to identify email addresses - its how they create mailing lists to sell to viagra and penis enlargement companies
