While its always exciting moving into new species etc and very hard not to get carried away, I believe its important to make sure the main lines are well established first.
However, Im sure the odd merc character figure could be fit in somewhere and would make great variation in force line ups.

Brandlin.....I played WoW for a while and I reckon Murlocs* would fit well with an aquatic race. After all Fubarnii need a reason to be scared of water  Wink

*Murloc.....basically a humanoid frog with big sharp teeth.

yeah its a shame about fubarnii being scared of water as i've been hankering to do a laser cut ship/boat hull kit. The technique is ideal to make a proper planked hull rather than the slab sided gaming models we usually see!

Like said over a few mails I'd like hearing more life/lifeform in areas near water. Fubarnii might be scared of it, but in a world surrounded by water - it surely must have had some effect.

I have two areas I'd like a bit more info on please:

How about some more basic lexicon, and perhaps a pronunciation guide too? (Is it "Foo-barn-ee", or "Fur-barn-ee" or something else for example? Do they swear - nothing *too* rude, but they are often the words that seem to be learnt early on for example! And so on...)

The second area I'd love to read more about are the forested areas and their inhabitants, and whether there are any more "tropical" forests, marshes, bogs or swamps - if so, what are they like?

Well, I'd guessed "foo-barn-ee-ee" personally, although I do tend to run the last two syllables together out of laziness...

I thought that the first syllable was "foo" (or perhaps "fuh") as there is no R following it (as you'd get in "fur"), and the next syllable does have an R in it. I assumed the "ii" at the end was pronounced in the Latin manner, but I could easily be wrong there too.

Anyway, it seems that it could make a pretty good little ramble! Tongue

During games I tend to pronounce it 'tar-get'.

Foo-bar-nee
Or at least that is how it is pronounced in the central empire. Plenty of different dialects across anyaral though  Smiley

Tom has put a huge amount of work into the fubarnii language, so that is a good idea.

Noting the other ideas as well. The forests are a bit scary. Fubarnii go in but sometimes don't come out again. I'll have a think about the outskirts of the forests though.

They are kinda small and a lot of things would like to eat them... They don't tend to let fear get in the way though, so they won't stay out of the woods forever.

I kinda see the same thing with the fear of water. They are scared of it but will go in if no other choice.

A typical Fubarnii 2 man craft would be similar to our own old coracles ( wooden framed semi-sphere covered in hide or bark). It would differ though in size proportions. A centre post with sturdy fixings for holding on. The distance from the centre to the outside of the boat would be greater than the estimated distance that water could travel if splashed over the side......plus a few hoof lengths for good measure.
If standing near river crossing points one can most likely hear phrases such as "hold on tight", "stop rocking" and "thank $&£* thats over !"

They aren't the sort to let silly things like fear or common sense get in the way of a good idea! Besides, if you are in a floating city then it no longer really counts as being 'at sea', you are just taking the dry land with you.

I'd like a rambling about Fubarnii art, music, folk tales, values and so on. Do the Fubarnii have myths that focus on anything other than the Enarii - might individual clans have folk heroes etc from the war against the Devanu? Do the Fubarnii consider rebellion a virtue (as a throwback to the Devanu war this might make some sense) or are they quite lawful creatures in general? What sorts of musical instruments do they use? Do they think much of art in general, or is it just a pastime of particularly nuts engineers? What about for the Delgon?

Another rambling that might be good is a better description of crime, law, and punishment in the Empire and Delgon realms and how it works and how it differs.
