Hi Folks

I'm delighted to announce that there will be a World of Twilight cross over for our Sci-fi board game, Inevitable Betrayal. The second planned expansion will be titled "Raiders" as given the resources on board, Weyrell’s colony ships are constantly being targeted by Pirate, Raider and Mercenary groups. We will be working on making a specific twilight themed raiding crew available both on paper and in miniature form.

Full development of the expansion will begin in January 2014 but until then here is the fluff for the ship and the characters ... Try to imagine what the miniatures will look like!  Grin

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Anyaral
A Baruk class star ship, the Anyaral is named after the fabled birthplace of the Twilight Castes that now inhabit the stars. Operating primarily as a fast cargo hauler in the employ of Fubarnii merchant houses the sleek lines of the ship are both respected and feared. Those in power frequently hire it, and its crew, as a deniable asset for raids and acts of espionage and piracy against each other. Its value in this regard has spared it destruction on several occasions.

The crew of the Anyaral are drawn from the various castes Captain Drameru has encountered on his adventures. Given the cosmopolitan nature of the ship and its occupants its name seems somehow more fitting. The refined Fubarnii mingle with the Delgon Kal, Eragu tribe and more recently the Dhogu mercenary house and a Devanu Pack. The ship itself has become somewhat of a celebrity amongst the merchant navy of the vast Fubarnii merchant houses and is seen as neutral ground for mediations or negotiations.

Relying on speed rather than fire power the Anyaral is none the less a fearsome opponent at close range with many banks of short ranged Ion batteries and even a handful of Belderak Cryo-Blaster turrets.  On a raid the standard practice is to jump as close to the target as possible, close swiftly and disrupt the energy systems of the facility or ship with the ion batteries. The Cryo-Blaster turrets deal with any perimeter defense while the Kal Marines and Dhogu warriors board and secure the target. Since Arken-Te and his Devanu Pack joined the ship the Anyaral can now launch a squadron of deadly Kosok fighters to run the CAP.

Captain Drameru
The Anyaral is commanded by the redoubtable Captain Drameru, a Fubarnii of both flamboyant and dubious reputation. Known for being more of a rake than a traditional military captain he nevertheless has led the crew from one success to the next. He has an easy going command style when surrounded by his subordinates but this shifts to a cool professionalism when confronted with anyone not under his command.

Fiercely protective of both his ship and its crew Drameru has risked his life more than once for the members of the Twilight Castes aboard, be they Fubarnii or Devanu. His willingness to listen to the concerns of the crew and castes has stopped many an argument boiling over into a riot or mutiny. Even handed and friendly he deals with crewmen of all ranks and caste respectfully. None however forget that his word is law while they are aboard.

The Command Council
Realising quickly that a mixed caste crew could easily turn into powder keg Drameru astutely formed his command council from those elected to speak on behalf of the differing castes. Part bridge crew part command group the council discusses the acceptance of all missions or contracts and is the final arbiter of all disputes.

Delgon Master Sergeant Komag is the second in command of the Anyaral and leader of the Delgon Kal aboard. He is a stern warrior of great renown and rumour has it he was once in line for a chair within the Retribution Council before some scandal laid his entire family low. As the head of the Kal Marines he specialises in B&B, breaching and boarding, and trains his Kal as well as soldiers of other castes vigorously. Rather strangely he has a very juvenile sense of humour and enjoys practical jokes when not on duty.

The Scholar, the Eragu term for a gifted warrior, is the elected representative of the Eragu Tribe to the command council. The Tribe holds regular elections, usually after a large or difficult raid to ensure that their best speaks on their behalf. The current scholar is Eghad, an engineer of some note. She is a particular innovator of thermo-kinetic physics and the mathematics involved in ballistic combat.  Eghad relishes combat where she can field test her latest theories.

Saaguk, a Dhogu Hunter, is the assigned emissary of the Paguul mercenary house. The Paguul are currently signed on with Drameru for a 10 year contract after they impressed him with their defence of a storage complex he was raiding. Jingoistic in the extreme and contemptuous of anyone who isn’t a fighter Saaguk is hard company for most of the crew. Though he would never admit it he is slightly intimidated by Komag and has named his two skerrats, Gho & Ral, after a notable Delgon leader to irritate him.

The most controversial member of the ships council is the Devanu Pirate Arkan-Te.  Wanted across several sectors for brutal acts of aggression and brigandage it is unknown why the Devanu Pack was offered sanctuary and neither Arkan-Te nor Drameru are willing to discuss it. Towering over all of the other council members Arkan-Te and his Grishak Jek are, for the most part, silent during meetings. The Devanu pack and their vehicles have certainly proven their worth to the ship though the respect they have gained is a long, long way from trust.

The council’s most recent acquisition, known simply as Cass, is a Casanii-Jenta clone trooper found during a raid on a burned out laboratory complex. She seems to have adopted the ship rather than sign on with it and has become the first to volunteer for any mission. A sniper of superlative skill she has saved many a crew member from hidden threats and enemy snipers.  Her skill with firearms is matched only by her stealth. Indeed her capacity to be in a room without being noticed has unnerved all who have experienced it. Since her liberation Drameru is never out of her sight and she has joined the command by default.

The final position within the command group is held by more of an advisor than a leader. NuraWan, a Delgon from the frigid outer wastes of Perigal, surrendered his Kal at some point in the past and joined the Enarii Blade Masters. These warrior priests advise the Delgon Kal’s and the retribution Council on points of moral principle and the lessons learned from the history of the Delgon people. NuraWan is armed with the fearsome energy halberd that is the badge of the Enarii he is also armed with an equally fearsome sense of justice.

The bridge crew reminded me a little of Voyager. I chuckled mischievously when I read that Komag specialises in B&B, I hope he does a good fry up Cheesy

It will be cool to see the minis.
