twilight as a new genre in fiction?

so i have just recently got my girlfriend into steampunk and as we were discussing it she told me that she was trying to look for a medieval steampunk book (both being archaeologists that's what we do in our free time). As we were talking about it i immediately thought of da vinci and then the Fubarnii! because this entire setting is very similar to our idea of 'medieval steampunk' theres all the crazy gadgets and contraptions but they all have a older feel to them. So has mike created an entirely new genre? and if so what shall we call it?

Wander over to Darren's site for a bit more of a teaser...
Intriguing question what genre twilight actually belongs to. Probably fantasy, but certainly doesn't fit a lot of the usual trappings of the genre!
