These look very good! I love what you did to their skin so it doesn't look too even and more lizardlike.
I also like the simple but effective finish on the bases.

Look good, a more muted colour scheme than normal.

yes.. my colour vision isn't great so I tried to keep them one colour-ish. I did look at some pictures of newts as a research idea but chickened out of real contrasting colours .. next time perhaps
