Hello all, I've started painting up the lads and I thought I'd fire up a pic of the test model. I'm not convinced about the green and may head towards brown if it's too Casani-ish. Can I get a ruling on that?

I like them. They have a nice gritty earthy realistic look to them.

That's a nice, natural green and doesn't look out of place at all. What sort of climate/region do you see them coming from? I'd probably go for one of the borders of the casanii territories.

I had a bit of a mishap which meant a visit to the stripping jar ... I had hoped to eventually place them in the North-West corner of the Empire, in the woods/mountains between Disson and Galm. What skin colours would be suitable for that area?

That mishap does not sound good! Up in the North-West? That'll be an 'interesting' place for them to live. The northern clans tend more towards paler skin, but there can be unusual levels of diversity, usually as a result of groups of Fubarnii migrating a few generations ago and settling in different regions. To be totally honest, the precise look of the Disson hasn't really been defined yet, so I'll probably absorb at least some of what you suggest into the background of the area.

Thanks for sharing! They are looking good so far, and I like the skin tone. How are you planning to base them?
You should maybe do one or two knights with the green skin tone when you get to that stage.

Yeah, the knights, traders and other blow-ins from the Empire will be in the official colours. Basing will revolve around broken, rocky ground and/or overgrown patches of cobbles/road.

It's been over 120 days since I posted anything on my Disson project... at least according to the charming message I got from the forum-bot. Anyhoo... back in the saddle... I'm on the home stretch with one of the militia units with just some detailing to go. I'm sticking with the khaki flesh tone/brown armour and the vast majority of clothing with be shades of grey. I'll be using quite faded spot colours for pouches and additional details. I've also kicked off the Devanu so here's a couple of shots of the lads brought up to basecoat.

The Militia are looking good, did you dry brush the skin tones?

Great colour scheme! love the khaki skin. I went through a long period of painting almost everyting in earthy browns, I fear you might have re-ignited that urge! I look forward to seeing more

Thanks all! Bit of a typo in my post there. The Devanu have been undercoated and not basecoated... though they are now. @ Scalifano: do you mean the Fubs? No they were block shaded and brought back up to base and then highlighted with very loose blending. They look a lot better in person as I can't take good pics if my life depended on it. Did a bit more work on the Devanu. The Kopa and Sempa were base coated in line with the undercoat. BTW the undercoat comprised of an even coat of black with an airbrushing of brown from directly above. I used the same base colours but mixed in either umber or black to darken them for the underside of the mini. The skin was given a thinned coat of Umber to bring it up from black. All the colours were then shaded down twice. The process was the same for the Grishaks. The next step is to bring them back up to the basecoat.
