I stayed up late putting together 5 Casanii spearmen, 2 cavalry, a priest, the leader, and four scouts.  These minis are fantastic.  I thought they would be much smaller, like 4' tall in scale, but I'm pleased that they're pretty hefty, big enough to knock down a Space Marine.  The priest/shaman guy is especially large.  I really like that.

Getting the shoulder joints right took a little work but I think they're fine, now.  I'll use a bit of green stuff to cover my own assembly mistakes and then I think these guys will be smooth.  I based them on top of Starbucks wooden coffee stirrers so that the feet will be above the sand I use for the rest of the base.

Curious and cool that they are left handed.

15 regular Fubarnii remain to be assembled and put on bases but they'll be next, maybe tonight.  I should have purchased a leader for the Fubarnii regulars.  Oh well, next order, after Christmas.

Glad to hear the models haven't disappointed!

Nearly all fubarnii are left-handed for some random reason... another case of me being awkward just for the sake of it  Smiley

Who would you get to lead your regular fubarnii? Are you planning to play as well as collect? Will you be entering some casanii into the painting challenge?

Good questions.

I think there needs to be a big leader for the Fubarnii regulars.  Maybe there is but I cannot discern scale on the internet?  I'd like to see a mounted and a foot leader who is a bit bigger than the NCOs leading the slingers, militia, and cavalry.  Sorry, still learning these cool, exotic names.  The Casanii have a really good one, the Dayreth or something (the guy with the pet lizard at his feet.)

I've played Quar twice a few years back but that's it, other than chess and checkers.  I'm just a builder and painter.  Don't know if anyone in the San Francisco area even knows of Anyaral.

Got some Trebanarii (spelling?) on order, as of this morning.  I LOVE those guys on the website.  Some of the most imaginative painting I've ever seen.

Still need to know the base skin colors for the Casanii or there won't be anything in the painting challenge....  Nobody has answered my questions about that particular scheme, yet.

Hey Erik,

About the base colours, choose what you like. darth tater painted them in a purple base colour, I for myself used a dark brown. As this is a fantasy setting, it's totally up to you.

I chose darker earthy tones for all my minis, because I come from the Warhammer corner, where all my lizards are already super colourfull, and i wanted to try something different. So I use the brighter colours only for armour and marking.

hope that helped a bit, maybe keep browsing the painting section a bit Smiley

cheers

Thanks, buddy.  I've been painting for 20+ years.  I just *really* like the base color for those Casanii and would like to try it out.

I've also become stuck with the same 5-layers of brown.  I need to break out of it and the Casanii are a good opportunity, as were the Kryst Quar when I made some of them.  It made me re-imagine color combinations.  :-)  That kind of artistic growth is what I am looking for.  I'm not worried about "authenticity."  Hope that makes sense.   Smiley
