My daughter's boyfriend, Scot, and I have been trying to come up with a scenario a bit different.
The devanu force is a pack of 6 grishak (150pts) attempting to get a baruk laden down with food from some fubarnii. They are on a road and need to get the baruk off table 24" away,  grishak set up 18" away.
The fubarnii first had militia captain, 5 militia and 2 knights (150pts). Fubarnii were slaughtered along with baruk in every game. We added 2 more knights to the group making 200 vs 150 and the knights slaughtered the grishak!
we don't want to give any ranged weapons and want to stick with the 6 pack of grishak but are struggling to balance the forces, equal points fubarnii are outmatched. Playing with all grishak is definitely fun though!

Anyone have any ideas?

P.s. any fubarnii activating was allowed to activate the baruk too just like a trader

I had to comment, just because I love the scenario of the Fubarnii fending off a pack of wild, unled Grishak! Smiley
A disclaimer, though: I'm not a gamer, so my suggestion has no secret insight into the game! But have you tried swapping the knights for more militia? If the game models reality anything like it should, the knights are more offensive units, and for defending against animals, footsoldiers with spears are your best bet, provided that you've got enough.

Just my 2p's worth - I imagine Mike will have better suggestions when he gets back from France. Glad to hear you're having fun trying out new scenarios, though  Grin

Hey, thanks for the input.
The idea behind the two knights was to provide a counter to the grishak maneuverability or to quickly bolster a gap when needed. It didn't work out that way though as the grishak are in killing really quickly!
I think we will try 10 militia and the captain next, lots of bodies may help. The lack of coordinated strike is not good for the fubarnii either, and you really have to protect the captain so you aren't stuck with single activations!

It's also fun to go RAWR when the pack charges in!  Grin

I always saw Grishak more as "SQWARK!"

Dammit. Just lost my post on my phone...
Title - will play at some point, but can't from here.
The problem you've got is that militia aren't well suited at killing lots of grishak. Doesn't matter too much, but means you will have to tweak points.
Maybe give the grishies a single-point failure. Give them a kopa (maybe with +1cs). Why did you drop the trader? Seems like a good idea to keep him, or maybe use the mounted one?
Good start though - sounds like a good little scenario.

Yeah militia can't kill them easily and Knights kill them too easily.......that's where the balance issue is, I think.....

The scenario at the moment is called "who ordered take out?" The Fubarnii are escorting the Baruk carrying lots of food to a village (board edge) for the staving Jenta when they are attacked by a pack of wild Grishak.

I like the idea of upgrading one Grishak to an alpha - Kopa - head of the pack.......possibly with a 1 stamina ability too, to help him stand out...... Huh

I would suggest that the original forces might be fairly balanced. How many times did you play? The key for the fubarnii would be to survive the charge attacks with sufficent forces to mob the grishak. the knights are a bit useless in this regard, as they might survive the charge, but the grishak will avoid them because of this. Sticking the knights out front to take the charge, with the milita close behind, or swap out the knights for more milita. (second option is probably better)

p.s. hello everyone by the way!

Yes Beth, you are a goddess. Or at least an administrator so you can call yourself whatever you like!
You can stop being a hatchling once you've posted something like 5 or 10 posts.
